Rock ‘n Roll Photography – Courtesy Nikon

I really enjoy the Stunning Nikon web site.
Not only is this Flash site gorgeous and informative, it is flat out entertaining. Plus, the marketers at Nikon are constantly coming up with new, imaginative ways to show off their cameras.
First they gave photographers the new (at the time) Nikon D80 and provided a showcase for their work. The result: An impressive collection of what the D80 is capable of, even when just carried around casually.
Next, Nikon gave ordinary folks in a small town (Georgetown, South Carolina) a Nikon D40 and turned them loose. The result: Picturetown… An equally impressive gallery of photos from people who are not professional photographers, emphasizing how easy the Nikon DSLRs are to use.
Now the Stunning Nikon site is showcasing Nikon Live… rock ‘n roll photos, with galleries of — and by — famous rock stars. They even have John Mayer creating a photo blog as he criss-crosses the USA on his summer tour. What’s the message here? If a rock star can take good pictures, anyone can?
Whatever the goal, the site is entertaining and the pictures are great. If the Stunning Nikon site doesn’t want to make a person trade up to a Nikon, the only thing left is to give free trials. (Hint Hint)
